Reflection
The most important thing about still life drawings is that it can show a new way of looking at an ordinary object and makes an overall better drawing. What I would’ve done differently is the lighting on the objects to make it look more realistic. Some of the objects were very difficult to balance but what I did was make sure on the line on both sides were a match to each other, the spacing I made sure there was space surrounding the objects, for the contrast, even though it wasn’t exactly alike I did my best to have contrast on all the objects. When I was focusing on drawing the lines, I’d first looked at the objects very carefully before starting to draw the lines and as I would be drawing I’d look at the objects again and focus on each one to memorize the outline and design of the objects. The adjective I would describe for my artwork is lifelike because although it isn’t exactly the same as the objects itself, by the shadow on the bottom and one on the vase, the artwork looks more realistic in my opinion and for the verb, I would describe it as draw because of the artwork I did.

The Process The first step I did was used a pencil to draw the lines on on both the the elephant and the vase then I used the thin charcoal and steady drew the exact replica of the vase and elephant. It was difficult especially on the elephant part because I was so nervous and because of that I kept constantly shaking as I was trying to lightly draw the lines but eventually I was able to control myself and do my best to draw the lines. |
The next step, I added a shadow part on the bottom of the vase, reason for it being on the vase is when I was adding shadows on the bottom, I notice that the shadow of the elephant was on the vase, I don't know why it was, I believe it was just because of the position on how the sunlight was shining on the objects because there was no shadow on the vase itself so that could be the reason. After started darkening both the elephant and vase but not to much darkening, just the right amount.

The next step I shaded the bottom part surrounding the elephant and the vase. You can see in the picture how I mainly shaded more darker on the left side then the right which is still dark but a bit of light in it too. Then once I was finish on shading the bottom part, the finale part I was lightly shaded both the vase, and the elephant, completing my final piece for my still life drawing.
