Title: Fence In Nature
Size: 9 x 16 Medium: Photography Completion: December 2021 Exhibition Text For my 7th project is a landscape photography that takes place outside and was inspired by a photographer. Max Foster. The photo shows a field with a small cliff, a street on the left. In the back is a sunrise with 2 trees. a blue sky and mix of red, orange, yellow, and blue and purple clouds in the sky all behind a fence. |
Max Foster
My inspiration is Max Foster, a landscape and nature photographer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Foster has been featured in top publication such as Outdoor photographer National Geographic and Practical Photography and he specialized in creating large format, limited edition, gallery quality fine art prints. I chose him for an inspiration because I was inspired by one of photographs called, "Morning Glory." In the photo, it shows a beautiful sunrise at the lake, with rocks, trees around but its focus is the sunrise. What I like about it is how peaceful the photo looks. I love the mix of the purple and pink clouds in the sky from the sunrise. This photo is what I wanted to do for my piece. |
The Process After capturing this photo, I started editing the photo. The first thing I did was adjusted the Contrast, Highlights, Saturation, Tint, Skin Tone, Pop, and Blue Tone, and then I lowered the Warmth, Black points, Shadows, and White Point all the way down and the finale piece turned out like this. In the process photo shows the different filters I used, the very last photo was supposed to be my finale piece but I knew I could make even better and I did try different filters like adjusting the Brightness more for a brighter landscape and even though I love how the last picture turns out, my finale piece does show a similar tone towards my inspiration's photography. |

Reflection
The best part about this project is the different colors in the sky, I like how there's red, orange yellow and blue and even purple in the clouds and even though the tone of the photo is dark it still makes the photo so colorful. What I don't like and that I wish I could've changed about the photo is on the left side shows the road because the photo is supposed to show nature and landscape like how Foster's photography is but I wish it wasn't there. The texture of the photo is smooth, there isn't any movement in the photo and there isn't value either. What I learned is that I need to work on my angle so I won't make another mistake like I did in this photo again. |
Compare & Contrast
Similarities
The Theme is similar because our theme is a landscape at sunrise, the Emphasis is similar because both mine and Foster's main focus is the sunrise in the sky plus the Colors are warm. Differences The Shape is different, my photo is square size while Foster's shape is rectangular. Another difference is that the value because his photo is more lighter and mine is more darker |
